Fighting flash fraud on Ebay

The authors of this blog want to elimnate flash fraud on Ebay

ebayer exodus_emporiums demonstrates the importance of careful reading

This ebay listing from exodus_emporiums is titled “Kingston DT310 Data Traveler 256GB Quality Copy” – meaning fake capacity counterfeit. In the main body of the listing the seller says:

DataTraveler 310 USB Flash drive is ideal for storing and transferring digital images and presentations and transporting all kinds of data. With capacities up to 256GB, 1GB of that being uncorrupted.

Capacities – 256GB

Uncorrupted – 1GB

So – everything after 1GB (the real capacity) gets corrupted! Hardly goes with the statement “ideal for storing and transferring digital images and presentations” does it. Sadly many ebayers don’t read listings properly so no doubt quite a few will buy a fake capacity counterfeit from exodus_emporiums then wonder why their files get corrupted!

We advise everyone who buys flash memory items to test them with the free program h2testw irrespective of where they were purchased – otherwise you run the risk of data loss and corruption.

Report your fake if testing confirms you have purchased fake capacity flash memory on ebay.
