128GB Corsair flash drives from coolguypilot & albertajewlers2010

The model of Corsair Voyager flash drive pictured in ebay auctions from coolguypilot and albertajewlers2010 (the same seller?) is not made in 128GB capacity. We conclude that the USB flash drive being sold is are fake capacity counterfeits and that anyone buying one will find that it corrupts files.

256GB Kingston DT300 in ebay auction from sq_electronics

Is the 256GB Kingston DataTraveler 300 flash drive being auctioned on ebay by sq_electronics genuine? Buyers can check whether or not a Kingston flash drive is genuine quite easily – here are the steps:

  1. Look at the back of the pack – is there a serial number?
  2. If there is no serial number (there should be a label showing this) then it is sure to be a fake capacity counterfeit that corrupts files – but the presence of a serial number does not, in itself, guarantee it is genuine.

  3. Look at the USB connector – is there engraving on it giving details about the flash drive?
  4. If there is no engraving you can be sure it is a counterfeit that will trash your files – but again, the presence of engraving does not in itself guarantee it is genuine.

  5. If both a serial number and engraving are present try verifying the serial number with Kingston.
  6. If Kingston cannot verify the serial number then you have a fake capacity counterfeit and your data will become lost or corrupted after a while.

The 256GB Kingston DataTraveler 310 flash drives being sold on ebay by starhorseangel4 are too cheap to be anything other than fake capacity counterfeits. Anyone who buys one of these USB flash drives will find it corrupts their files.

Ebay seller courtneay123 obviously went shopping in fake flash land as there are not 256GB Kingston DataTraveler 200 flash drives – these are manufactured by fraudsters in China. Anyone who buys one of these USB flash drives will discover that it is a fake capacity counterfeit and corrupts files.

UPDATE 310/10/10

We just noticed ebay item number 260684197538 – this is an unbranded fake capacity flash drive that corrupts files – there are as yet no genuine unbranded 256GB flash drives and when there is a genuine one you won’t be able to buy it for as little as £39.99!!

Beware devious ebay fake flash fraudster tengteng1988

Devious ebay fake flash fraudster tengteng1988 (registered in China – the home of fake flash memory, which we sometimes refer to as fake flash land) does not seem very smart! This seller attempts to deceive people by giving the item location as Ireland – but leaves a line of Chinese characters above the word Ireland! Talk about giving yourself away!

As well as Sony Vaio flash drives (nothing to do with Sony, purely a figbox of Chinese fraudsters’ imaginations) this seller has listed fake memory cards on ebay – any flash memory item from this seller will be fake capacity; and fake capacity flash memory corrupts files.

Sandisk USB flash drives in ebay auctions from wavesofmybrain1

leave a comment »

As Sandisk do not make this flash drive in either the 128GB capacity advertised in this ebay listing from wavesofmybrain1 or indeed in the 64GB capacity shown in another listing we conclude that seller wavesofmybrain1 made the mistake of buying from one of the fraudulent wholesale outlets supplying fake capacity counterfeits.

Anyone who buys a counterfeit USB flash drive will discover that it corrupts files due to the fact that the real capacity of the drive is never anywhere near the advertised capacity and once the real capacity has been filled files become lost or corrupted.
