32GB Sandisk Cruzer “blade” from ebayer bohuyan sure to be fake

Although ebay seller bohuyan does not mention the brand or model in ebay listing number 290464092633 the picture shows the Sandisk Cruzer “blade” – one of the smallest and neatest USB flash drives on the market. UK ebay seller with suspect listings for 32GB Sandisk

babyk0101UK seller babyk0101 has listed three of these 32GB Sandisk Ultra Backup flash drives in auctions with a 99p start.

We suspect they will turn out to be counterfeit and fake capacity as we doubt that anyone would take the risk of making a big loss on every item if they were genuine.

fasttracksss

If you buy one of these direct from Sandisk it will cost around £100. Research indicates there is not a very large profit margin on flash drives. We don’t think fasttracksss could buy genuine ones wholesale at a price that would allow them to be resold at half the price the manufacturer charges. We think these came from a fraudulent supplier. Feedback indicates that seller is not exactly the most reliable on ebay so we doubt very much that fasttracksss has checked with Sandisk to ensure that the drives are genuine. beever1234

If the 32GB flash drives listed by beever1234 are genuine the seller is taking a huge risk by starting the bidding at 1p. If they are genuine and bids do not exceed the wholesale price plus postage, listing fees etc then the seller stands to lose a lot of money. The seller says:

NEVER OPENED !!! OFFICIAL DRIVE THIS IS NOT A CHEAP COPY , GARAUNTEED!! 300% MONEY BACK IF YOU RECIEVE AN UNOFFICIAL OR FAKE ITEM!!

This is a rather extravagant claim – 300%?? Did the seller do any maths at school we wonder? If not, maybe this explains the low start price! We do wonder a little why buyer IDs are being kept private if the seller’s items are genuine – after all buying a flash drive is nothing to be ashamed of. Hong Kong based seller has listed a 32GB Sandisk flash drive (pictured left) for $78.49 (USD) with free shipping. Is this a genuine 32GB flash drive? If so it’s a great bargain. How to tell whether to buy this?

Well the seller has a feedback score of 1092 – that looks promising doesn’t it? Feedback score is 99.5. Should we trust the seller? Let’s have a look at this drive on the Sandisk site before we make up our minds.

Here is a screenshot of what we found on the Sandisk site:

So there is a 32GB listed that looks the same, it is a new model.

The only way to be sure? Test it with h2testw to check the real capacity. If you bought one of these let us know what you found – it is possible that this is one of the lower capacity drives of this model that has been fraudulently re-programmed.

Report your fake if testing confirms you have purchased fake capacity flash memory on ebay.
