Seller thi1166 has auctions range of flash drives on ebay, all with a start price of one Euro. The one in this listing is being sold as defective, as are a number of others. This flash drive is not defective it is a fake capacity counterfeit that corrupts files. We think all (Kingston flash drives, Corsair flash drives, this fake Sony and a familiar fake capacity generic model) were bought from a fraudulent supplier in China.

teliha2007 auctioning familiar fake USB flash drives on ebay

The model of USB flash drive in this ebay auction from teliha2007 is very familiar to our team – always fake capacity and corrupts files. We have not yet found one of these leather and metal flash drives with a real capacity over 4GB whatever the capacity they were sold as.

Do not be fooled by what your computer tells you about the capacity of a USB flash drive – this is just what the control chip reports to the operating system. Fraudsters in China program the chip to show whatever they want.

We advise everyone who buys flash memory items to test them with the free program h2testw irrespective of where they were purchased – otherwise you run the risk of data loss and corruption.

UPDATE 08/07/2010
Having sold the obvious fakes above without copmplaints from buyers teliha2007 is now auctioning a couple of 64GB Corsair Voyager flash drives which we are sure will turn out to be fake capacity counterfeits which corrupt files.

UPDATE 16/07/2010
Now teliha2007 has listed a 256GB Kingston DataTraveler 310 at auction (item number 150468175260) which will probably also be a fake capacity counterfeit. It seems that buyers still haven’t realised that the leather and steel model of flash drive sold by teliha2007 is fake.

Ebayer in Australia ships bulk lots of fake Corsair from Hong Kong

leave a comment »

Corsair does not make this model of USB flash drive in 128GB capacity. These are counterfeits that will destroy users’ data after a while. It seems that swankyspanker is dropshipping these out of Hong Kong. This means the seller will never clap eyes on what is being sold and will have no chance of testing them to find out the truth.

This seller is also selling fake Kingston flash drives in bulk. We strongly advise ebay sellers to avoid dropshipping flash memory like the plague!! You are fairly certain to find yourself selling fakes if you do use dropshipping.

As usual we strongly advise ebayers to test all flash memory with the free program h2testw.

Report in to SOSFakeFlash if your testing confirms you have a false capacity device.

This 128GB Corsair on ebay would seem to be a counterfeit

busi767

This 128GB Corsair Voyager flash drive listed by busi767 (registered in the USA) appears to be counterfeit. Corsair did announce a 128GB USB flash drive on 13th August – but it is not this model! Counterfeit flash drives are fake capacity and cause users’ files to become lost and corrupted.

As usual we strongly advise ebayers to test all flash memory with the free program h2testw.

Report in to SOSFakeFlash if your testing confirms you have a false capacity device.

UPDATE 16th September 2009

Seems that busi767 thought a quick change of ID to zer0binary was enough to escape notice and continue with the fraudulent sales. Afraid not – it’s not that easy to wriggle away from our observant team! Expect we’ll see zer0binary aka busi767 appearing in the proven fraud list at sosfakeflash sometime soon.
