USB flash drives & memory cards in ebay auctions from changky54

Beware of Kingston USB flash drives and Sandisk memory cards in ebay auctions from seller changky54 – we are pretty certain they will turn out to be fake capacity counterfeits which corrupt files.

We advise everyone who buys flash memory items to test them with the free program h2testw irrespective of where they were purchased – otherwise you run the risk of data loss and corruption.

Report your fake if testing confirms you have purchased fake capacity flash memory on ebay.

Test flash memory sold by ebayer stokwynda with h2testw

leave a comment »

Seller stokwynda has auctioned quite a number of flash memory cards (SD and micro SD) on ebay. If they are genuine then the seller made a loss on quite a few auctions. There is, of course, the possibility that stokwynda bought them from a fraudulent supplier; in which case they will be counterfeit and fake capacity. For peace of mind and to avoid ending up with corrupt or lost pictures (or other files) we strongly suggest buyers test their cards to make sure they are genuine.

another website selling counterfeit flash memory items

Although we concentrate our attention on ebay (it was the fact that we all bought flash memory items on ebay that led to this blog being set up) we occasionally comment about other sites. David S left a comment which drew attention on Monday (7th June) to a site that we had wondered about checking out but had not yet got round to looking at. Here is a screenshot from the site in question:

The website is registered in China and sells counterfeit and fake capacity memory items. Be very careful where you buy flash memory from – steer well clear of Chinese sites, there are an awful lot of fraudulent suppliers there!

Suspect ebay listings for 32GB Transcend SD memory card

powerstar88

We strongly suspect the 32GB Transcend memory cards listed on ebay by powerstar88 will prove to be counterfeit and fake capacity. As usual we strongly advise ebayers to test all flash memory with the free program h2testw.

Report in to SOSFakeFlash if your testing confirms you have a false capacity device.

We have had some information from a buyer which seems to confirm our suspicions about this seller. The buyer says:

“The picture they use in the ebay listing is from Transcend USA so it’s the actual picture. I got a memory error in my camera, then I looked closer at the card. The printing on the label is not professional quality. The vendor on ebay is powerstar 88, who suprisingly is a powerseller with 2232 transactions and a 99% feedback rating.

I contacted Transcend USA and they told me about the color transitions at the top of the card (should be smooth – mine’s not) then asked for the serial number on the back of the card….the card I received has no serial number.”
