is ebay seller amnon.bl fraudulent? Dodgy listing for USB flash drive!

leave a comment »

This is not our first report of suspicions about USB flash drives listed on ebay by amnon.bl – we think this seller has sold a range of fakes over a period of months. When we first published an article about this seller in February we thought that this seller might have bought from a fraudulent supplier in all innocence – we now think this seller may well have been selling fakes deliberately. A fake capacity flash drive (whether a counterfeit brand name item or a generic fake) always corrupts files after a while.

The picture in this ebay listing appears to have been doctored to remove evidence that these are probably fake capacity counterfeit Sandisk flash drives.

It looks as though the places where Sandisk cruzer micro flash drives have markings giving the model and capacity have been badly edited in photoshop (or some other image editing program) to erase these markings. If we are right (and we think we are) then this is pretty certain to be a case of deliberate fraud.

We advise anyone who bought a flash drive that fails testing with h2testw from amnon.bl to leave a negative comment for the seller and open a paypal case immediately. If you already left positive feedback then leave a follow-up comment to warn other buyers about this seller.

Only you, as buyers, can put an end to the career of a fraudulent seller!

Bought a flash drive or memory card from yummyprettytoes? – you got a fake

We were sure that the 64GB Kingston DataTraveler 200 flash drives in the ebay listing above from ebay seller yummyprettytoes are fake capacity counterfeits that will corrupt users’ files so we had a quick shufti at this seller’s record.

Seems that this ebayer sold quite a number of fake flash memory items before ebay removed listings today (but ebay had not yet suspended the seller when we last looked) – if you bought a flash drive or memory card from ebay seller yummyprettytoes your item will have vanished from your won list.

Beware fake flash sellers ucsell, shellshop2010 and nana880805

pod-electronics lists notorious leather type flash drives on ebay

with 2 comments

The leather and steel type of flash drive in this ebay listing from pod-electronics is notorious. Every single one tested by members of our team (and others who have blogs about fake flash) has proved to be fake capacity, which corrupts files. We don’t think for a second that these are any different. Apart from anything else the picture shows the tell-tale shiny little capacity sticker commonly seen on fakes but never found on genuine flash drives.

Seller pod-electronics tells us in the listing that quality control procedures are rigourous:

All products you order go through stringent QC procedures before they are sent out. These procedures include: function testing to ensure products perform well and checking appearance and packaging.

We are inclined to agree with Victor’s thoughts about this!

If this seller’s quality control is so rigourous we wonder how the faulty phone a buyer left the negative comment “Product Faulty, stopped working after 3rd day of use, problem since 1st use” about slipped through.

We notice that seller has also had a number of listings like the one shown below:

In this listing pod-electronics said:

Welcome to my Cool Picture auction…
Each winner will receive a copy of my Cool picture Digitally by Email, upon payment and positive feedback!
I will then leave you GAURANTEED 100% positive feedback in return.
which is sent as soon as I check my feedback, usually within 12-24hrs
The starting bid of 1p is well worth it!
Please dont take the bids to high then its not worth it for you!
check my other items, more will be added as some finish.
Please be assured that this is a private listing so details of the auction title etc can not be seen in your feedback listing!
Please note we only accept PayPal
Please do not bid if your not going to pay!
You are buying a copy of my picture here Not the feedback!!
I will send you a copy of my cool picture as soon as I see the payment.
Warning !! Please wait 8 days after purchasing before purchasing again.

“You are buying a copy of my picture here Not the feedback!! “
Oh really? Hmm… do you think that Victor’s thoughts could apply equally to this statement?

Surely not … naturally, there is obviously absolutely no self-interest (such as positive feedback for buyers of such listings) by pod-electronics here, is there?? The seller is just a very kind person helping out ebay newbies (who sometimes suffer the problem of not being able to buy things because they have no feedback) isn’t he (or she) – of course!

Well folks, it’s up to you – want to risk buying a flash drive from this seller??? Upon your own head be it!

ebay alert: very dangerous fake flash listing from xdfxcv2010

leave a comment »

The ebay listing above from xdfxcv2010 is one of the most dangerous types of fraudulent listings for fake flash memory items on ebay. ONE flash drive with a true capacity of 128GB costs a whole lot more to MAKE than US $16.74! It would be impossible to SELL ten for this price!!

This listing invites foolish ebayers with no knowledge of flash memory to buy these in order to re-sell and land themselves in all sorts of trouble!! Hopefully ebay will remove this listing before anyone buys!

flash drives and memory cards from ebayer claudioana sure to be fake

leave a comment »

We are certain that this USB flash drive listed on ebay by claudioana will have nowhere near the advertised 32GB capacity. We think this is a fake capacity flash drive purchased on ebay from a fraudulent seller in the far east. Why do we think this? Because ebay seller claudioana bought items from a number of proven and supected ebay sellers of fake flash memory items and seems to be re-selling them.

The suspect and known fake flash fraudsters claudioana bought items from include newest_product, flashworld777, crystalpalace1987, inaltd (suspended by ebay), yaocard (another suspended eBay fake memory seller, who also used the ebay ID yaonice), genuineness2009 (also suspended) and johnsonmall (suspended) – we conclude that all flash memory items (flash drives, memory cards etc) from claudioana will be fakes that corrupt files.

counterfeit 128GB Kingston DT200 sold by yefeng98910 on ebay

leave a comment »

Seller yefeng98910 only registered as a member on ebay China on 11th June 2010. The listing shown above shows 2,000 sold. If that is true (and we don’t think for a moment that it is true) then selling 2,000 counterfeit 256GB Kingston Datatraveler 200 USB flash drives in a period of 24 hours is a remarkable acheivement!

If you bought this USB flash drive from yefeng98910 be warned – as well as being counterfeit (a copy, not a genuine Kingston) it is also fake capacity (probably under 4GB) and corrupts files. We think the USB flash drive sold in this ebay listing from scr-boya and other flash memory items (the SD memory cards and possibly the MP players) from this seller have been fraudulently programmed to report a fake memory capacity to the operating system. Beware of flash memory from ebay flash fraudster crystalpalace1987

leave a comment »

Despite the fact that ebay seller crystalpalace1987 is a proven fraudster who has sold many fake capacity flash memory items on ebay since we first reported suspicions about this seller back in September 2009, a couple of months after this ID was registered on ebay. By December 2009 crystalpalace1987 (identified as a member of a known fraud gang) became a powerseller despite evidence that proof of fraud had been obtained being published on the Internet in November 2009.

This fraudster is still selling fake flash memory items on ebay and (due to a combination of deviousness and the foolishness of most buyers on ebay who don’t test flash memory items on ebay before leaving feedback) crystalpalace1987 now has a huge positive feedback score of almost 8000 and a 99.1% rating!!

This USB flash drive is fake capacity and corrupts files. The ebay ID yahsmss belongs to a fraud ring in Singapore we have been watching for some time. This fake flash fraud gang is extremely devious and absolutely determined to continue defrauding ebayers with fake capacity flash memory items.

As soon as one ID belonging to this fraud gang is suspended by ebay another springs into action. They prepare for their fraudulent activities with false positive feedback from other gang members before really selling anything. This helps them fool ebayers into buying as there is a 100% positive feedback score when they embark on their fraudulent sales.

It can also help offset the inevitable negs that will come in after a while when ebayers begin to realise they have been diddled! Do not be fooled – you cannot buy genuine flash memory items at tiny prices. If you do then you can expect to get a fake. wangzhuo_chen sells counterfeit DataTraveler flash drives on ebay

leave a comment »

The 128GB Kingston DataTraveler 200 USB flash drives listed on ebay by wangzhuo_chen are certain to be counterfeit and fake capacity. A fake capacity flash drive corrupts files. You cannot buy a genuine flash drive above 16GB at this price.

You would be far better off with a genuine 16GB flash drive than a fake 128GB one like this that is likely to have only a 4GB memory chip at most. Such fakes are often made using factory reject memory chips that will fail very quicky even if you manage to program them back to their real capacity.

beware: ebayer superflash*888 sells fake flash, test with h2testw!!

leave a comment »

The USB flash drive shown on the left is a notorious fake capacty flash drive that corrupts files. It is sold by most of the fake flash fraudsters on ebay and seldom has a real capacity above 2GB although it is frequently sold as being 32G, 64GB and (as in the case of superflash*888) even 128GB.

Do not be fooled by what your computer reports – the information displayed by your computer is simply the false information programmed into fake flash memory devices by the fraudsters who create them. Testing with H2testw will reveal the truth if you understand the results.

When errors are reported after a certain point by h2testw this gives you an indication of the true capacity of the flash chip (the amount of data you can save before things go wrong because there is nowhere left for files to go and they will start to vanish or be corrupted) – fakes seldom have as much as 4GB real capacity.

Seller superflash*888 is part of a devious fraud ring in Singapore which we have been watching for some time. Anyone who cares to investigate will find that the fraudsters in this gang leave each other positive feedback without ever buying or selling anything to assist in their fraud.

suspected ebay fake flash fraudster michaelliudl2009 links to fightflashfraud blog!

We think that michaelliudl2009 is yet another fake flash memory fraudster in China selling fake flash on ebay. We suspect that this USB flash drive is fake capacity and corrupts files. If we are right, then this is a very cheeky fraudster indeed as the seller has provided a link to our blog in listings in order to reassure buyers.

We do not in any way endorse ebay seller michaelliudl2009 and consider this seller highly suspect! The seller says:

This item is NEW but WITHOUT retail package. It’s resealed in safety wrapper after I examine and am sure each item is in good status.

Please be noted that the legs are actually WHITE instead of metal color. This item is NOT produced by Takara.

I sell flash disks with real storage capacity. NO FAKE. Please check Flash Disk Fraud page for more details. There are already a bunch of tools to check flash on Windows. For Mac, Mac OS X Disk Utility (DU) application can be used.

We are pretty sure this seller is fraudulent. The link to us is in the words “Flash Disk Fraud page” – very cheeky if you ask us. If michaelliudl2009 wishes to send us some samples for testing in order to prove that we are wrong then we will be happy to publish the results!
