Test memory cards bought on ebay from eshop_168 immediately

with one comment

We have reason to think that the memory cards sold by eshop_168 are likely to be fakes which corrupt files. Anyone who bought a memory card on ebay is strongly advised to test it with the free program h2testw as we think you run the risk of data loss and corruption if you use it. Most of the flash memory items sold on ebay by those registered in the far east (Hong Kong, China and Singapore) turn out to be fake capacity which corrupts files.

Report your fake if testing confirms you have purchased fake capacity flash memory on ebay.

Did you buy a 32GB SD card on ebay from seller adiandian3

with 2 comments

adiandian3 Did you buy one of these “32GB” SD cards from ebay seller adiandian3?? If so, it seems very likely that you got a fake capacity card. Feedback indicates that the true capacity of these may be as low as 1GB. Ebay de-registered this seller and removed listings – hiding the fraud evidence and making life difficult for victims, as usual.

If you bought one of these you should test it with h2testw immediately – you will lose your photographs or videos if you use a fake capacity card. Claim a refund through paypal if you bought a fake from this seller -ebay/paypal obviously know he is a fraudster.

Please report in to sosfakeflash with test results, your ebay ID, seller ebay ID, item number and any other details you can give that may assist our fraud investigations.

eBay fraudster calltimtim goes into hiding!

with one comment

An eBay fraudster based in China who sold fake flash has gone into hiding. Suddenly there are no items for sale from calltimtim. This appears to be as a result of members of the frankenflash project telling this fake flash seller that we are onto him. Here is a picture of a confirmed fake (false capacity) SD card sold by calltimtim.
If you bought flash memory items from this seller you are strongly advised to test them with the free program h2testw which will reveal the true capacity of the drive and how much data was lost or corrupted. You can use this evidence to claim a refund from calltimtim through the PayPal dispute console. If you bought using a credit card the credit card company can do a chargeback to recover your money if calltimtim and PayPal are unco-operative. Please submit a report of your fake to sosfakeflash. There is lots of useful advice about refunds on the sosfakeflash blog and you can see pictures of confirmed fake USB flash drives from this seller there.
