Fighting flash fraud on Ebay

The authors of this blog want to elimnate flash fraud on Ebay

Farewell from the fight flash fraud team

We are sick to death of wasting our time with this blog as we’ve come to the conclusion that ebayers will never learn so we are taking a break – possibly permanently.

  1. Sorry to hear the bitter tone, but your efforts has been useful some of us (at least for me). If not for this blog and related sites&tools I would not be aware of the problem until I the I got my data corrupted on the fake flash drive.

It’s impossible to inform everybody. Simply, there are too many of us—the clueless buyers. I wish eBay/Paypal had more reasonable policies on this.

Anyway.. thanks for all the effort.

  4. Hey Micro,

A bit harsh on those buyers that never got burnt before buying from eBay stores and supposedly protected by eBay, but I’m with you, especially on the last bit (below).

  5. So, Adam,
You got a faulty flash drive from e-sentials? Once you had a replacement that seems to work you are now a happy bunny.
    Fine.
I think we told pretty much the whole story here (one way or another) – about faulty or fake flash memory. It is likely that what you bought was low-grade. Ok for transfers etc. but not to be trusted with files you don’t have elsewhere. Don’t bother commenting further – this blog is no longer operational – waste of our precious time.

  6. I can understand the concerns people are having purchasing items from ebay and especially from inconsiderate sellers. I actually bought one of the mentioned usb flash drives from e-sentials which turned out to be faulty but after contacting the seller, they sent me a replacement within a couple of days and did not even ask for any extra money.

I’m actually using this usb and its working like a dream. It is possibly a bad luck for someone, but recently i purchased another item from e-sentials and no probs faced. Good ebayer from as far as i know…

  7. Thanks to the Fraud Fighters. You are to be commended for your efforts but I hear your frustration. Thanks again. Some folks will never learn. So, as they say, “Only a fool argues with a fool”.

Like “Is 128g micro flash for $5 too good to be true”. At the moment yes, in a year who knows?

  8. Well this is a sad day indeed, a SAD DAY for truth and Wisdom. Two years battling with the ridiculous eBay policies, their complacency over the fraud issue, complicity even, in allowing so many fraudulent sales to go ahead un-checked. YET they pounce quickly on those kind souls that have posted warnings about fake flash, restricting their accounts, or even removing them.

I guess they see these individuals as a threat to their PROFIT, a profit that is based on counterfeit items, fake goods and damn poor customer support.

I am glad you have decided to stand down, you deserve better for all the effort you have put in to this project, you can now relax soundly knowing that ebay members will still be stupid, greedy and ripe for being ripped off long after you have put your journalistic pen to rest.

With all the examples we have seen over the last two years I can say quite happily that the fraudsters will still have a business, will still be selling junk to the willing idiots, the brainless ones that are so ripe for ripping off… Good Luck!

Happy trading to all those that ignore the truth and assume it won’t be THEM getting caught, “I’m too wise”

If I do get caught my EGO is just so large I’d NEVER admit it… You can lead an Equine to the trough, but
    getting it to drink etc

Interesting to watch the situation in another 2 years
will it have changed? no, of course not, the good old eBay public will still be dumb, greedy and just plain stupid… Nothing changes..

UNLESS…. A Consortium of manufacturers get together and bring a serious class action against eBay for allowing all these counterfeits and fakes to be sold, nothing will change.
