Another devious ebay gremlin from China by the look of things

Seems we have a rather devious gremlin from China here.

Seller bawawa10009898 is selling the fraudsters’ favourite flash drive (sample listing shown above) in private ebay auctions.

This seller has cunningly made some auctions for loss-making earbuds private too!

Very clever – you can’t see who bought what! Seems our fraudster friends are becoming ever more cunning in their attempts to evade detection of their fraudulent activities on ebay.

Below is a sample earbud sale – what honest seller could afford to sell things for 6p with free P&P?? If you see this sort of thing you can be sure you are looking at fraudster:

Never buy flash memory from a seller using private sales – you are almost bound to get a fake!

As usual we strongly advise ebayers to test all flash memory with the free program h2testw.

Report in to SOSFakeFlash if your testing confirms you have a false capacity device.

It has come to our attention that seller bawawa10009898 is possibly associated with seller 123456wowo123456 (previously known as mememao9898) – no doubt part of the same fraud ring.

The picture on the left in a listing by bawawa10009898 that we spotted today made us laugh so much that it is a wonder no-one burst a blood vessel!

It is just so obvious that the Sandisk cruzer name and the drive capacity originally shown on these counterfeit and fake capacity USB flash drives has been blocked out rather badly – fraudsters seem to be getting more careless over time.

This auction has a start price of 1 cent, with free P&P – seems our fraudster friends are in a state of desparation!! This probably explains why their fraudulent listings are becoming ever more obvious to those of us with knowledge of IT.
