There is no such thing as a genuine Sony Vaio flash drive – they are manufactured by fraudsters in China. Like many other ebay sellers fmelectricitat obviously bought from a fraudulent supplier. Quite a few of these have been sold by this ebayer and all will be fake capacity, which corrupts files.

Ah, faith in human nature… we had that in bucket loads until we got scammed on ebay!
Spotting generic fakes is a bit more difficult but there are certain models that are always fake, such as the leather and steel type.
There are sometimes other tell tale signs such as particular types of packaging that always contain fakes – and always steer well clear of any flash drive with a shiny capacity sticker!
Whether you are looking at brand items or generic there is one other guiding principle – if the deal seems too good to be true then it almost certainly is!

Don’t feel so bad Ron, I also got a fake Kingston and Sony. We’re not chumps, we just have faith in mankind and want a good bargain.
My question: how to know in advance if a Flash drive sold on eBay is legit. Most name brands that are cheap are apparently fake, but what about no names. There are a lot of no name drives at low prices. Are they mostly ok or mostly trash?

We all fell for fakes – that’s why this blog exists. Make ebay/paypal live up to their promises of buyer protection – make sure they give a refund.
